My friend's dog, Prada, has a grade three Patella Luxation and needs surgery as soon as possible. Patella Luxation is a condition that causes the knee cap to move out of place. It’s caused Prada pain so bad she can’t walk without limping and last night Prada was even rushed to the emergency Vet because she couldn’t walk at all without crying in deep pain. At just 3.75 pounds, Prada is being so brave, but she needs help to get back her quality of life.

Prada’s Mama, Tori, works two jobs and is in school full time and even volunteers, so this unexpected medical expense has been overwhelming for her. Prada is abundantly sweet and the talk of the town everywhere she goes. She’s such a bright light in the lives of everyone's who meets her.

Update 1: Prada’s owners went back to the emergency vet due to Prada not eating, drinking or going potty for 2 days. They then diagnosed her right leg with grade 3 luxating patella. Prada is now not using either hind leg. They got an earlier surgery consult.

Update 2: Prada’s owners saw the emergency vet who got a neuro consult at the Manhattan hospital-the doctors are saying they think she has a spinal cord issue somewhere between T3-L2 based on her neuro deficits and that if they kept her for MRI and surgery it would be $12,000.

The other option they gave was taking her home on strict cage rest and prednisone and pain meds, and he was saying if it is a slipped disc then 80% of dogs get better with cage rest, and if it’s an inflammatory issue then 80% of dogs get better with steroids.

So they’re gonna follow up with a neurologist in 2 weeks and see if she’s at least improving by then. If she is, then she would still need her knee surgeries but if not, they would need both surgeries which at a minimum would be 22k.
