---Help the NH Seacoast's Finest Public Access TV Station Finish Constructing Their Studio---
The Portsmouth Public Media staff, all together!
What Do You Do?
Portsmouth Public Media is a 501(c)3 nonprofit TV station. Based in Portsmouth, NH, PPMtv broadcasts to Portsmouth and five surrounding towns. Our mission is to give a voice to ALL members of our community through all types of media. We raise awareness for local causes, give a voice to local organizations and individuals, and of course provide entertainment - we're nothing if not storytellers!
Our dedicated team of staff members - Chad Cordner (Executive Director), Roxie Zwicker (Programming Manager), and Jake Webb (studio operations manager) - are joined by a host of awesome interns and volunteers on our journey to spread local news and views. From high school seniors to senior citizens, community members of all demographics are invested in our mission. They see the value in what we do because we tell their stories, too. One of our primary services is offering our stage and studio space to rent for local photographers, videographers, and creatives of all sorts. We provide the equipment and training to anybody in the New Hampshire Seacoast interested in telling a story and getting creative.
Why the GoFundMe?
Late last year, we moved from our home of 12 years in Portsmouth's historic South End to the less-historic but no less awesome Fox Run Mall in Newington, NH. The new space is a great upgrade for us, and there is a lot of potential. Our high-quality photography/video studio will soon be available for rent for anybody, station members and the public alike. We just have one small problem.
The studio space is open to the public without any enclosed door - and we're located right beside the mall's playground, to boot. While this is great for us in terms of visitors, the lack of soundproofing makes it difficult to produce the high-quality content that our members deserve. Between general mall noise and the screams of overexcited kids, it's almost impossible to get high-quality audio, so the use of our space is limited.
To that end, we need to construct a wall to enclose the entryway so that our members can have some privacy and quiet for proper recording conditions. The wall will cost $16,000, and our razor-thin budget can't afford a penny to spare. We need your help funding this project so that we can provide the best possible media production at the best rate around (and so we can free our ears from laughing/screaming/scream-laughing children at all hours).
When these fitups are completed, our studio will be fully operational and open to the public. Our creative rental space is decked out with the latest technology for any sort of media project you could envision: anything from a podcast to a short film to a full multicamera live production (complete with a live studio audience), we will work with you to make it happen at an unbeatably-low rate.
Assuming we reach our goal of $16,000 and go beyond, your extra generosity will not go to waste. We have dozens of projects that we need to complete to bring our station into the modern era, between broadcast system upgrades, electrician costs, and getting state-of-the-art video and audio equipment. All funds will go towards any of the above goals, and will further our goal of making the Seacoast a brighter, more informed, and more connected place.
This is your chance to join in our story. Donate today, and help to get us back up and running!
