My name is Stephanie and most people would recognize my dog, Powder. Powder is 2 and a half years old and has walked all over Clearlake with me since he was 9 weeks old. We have a strong bond and wherever I go, Powder goes. We have met so many people in town because no matter where we are, Powder always wants to stop and say hi to people, especially children; he really loves kids. I've even had people stop their cars to get out and pet Powder. He is my best friend, my companion, my protector, and my four-legged kid.
About a couple of months ago, he hurt his leg. I didn't know what was wrong until the vet said he has to have surgery on his knees. He has a torn cranial cruciate ligament. His left knee is worse than his right, so they will do the left first. The surgery costs about $5,000-7,000 per knee. Powder isn't even 3 years old yet and has a lot of life ahead of him. I hate seeing him in pain. He's on pain meds, but he still hurts and wants to run and play again. I lift him in and out of my truck, but there are many days he doesn't want to get in my truck due to his pain. I'm willing to sell my truck, which would almost pay for one of the surgeries, but right now I'm living in it with my three dogs. I'm trying to save every penny I can to pay for these surgeries, but I need help. Powder needs help. Please, I know it's hard times for everyone, but if you can just donate a little, whatever you can, Powder and I would be grateful. The vet at Middletown Animal Hospital says he needs it sooner than later. It's a long recovery also. Read the discharge papers to know about recovery for Powder.
