Hello everyone, my name is Portia and I have had an immensely hard month with 3 of my babies. It's been emergency visit after another totaling close to $7,400.
I am a proud rescue mom of special needs animals and I'm always prepared for something to go wrong, but nothing could've prepared me for this month.
Bill Murray stopped eating all together and his calcium levels dropped to dangerous levels. He's a rare little seizure boy so any little thing can set him off. He required overnight care to stabilize him.
Edgar started coughing and sneezing up mass amounts of blood, even tissue matter. After doing X-rays the Drs believe that he has a mass in his nasal cavity and that the tissue he coughed up is part of that. I refuse to put him through months of radiation and pain just so I have a little more time. So, the time we have left will be spent with him being as comfortable as possible with pain management. Once he's no longer able to eat it will be time.
Cheeto was perfectly fine and healthy until this morning when he started peeing a large amount of blood. Thankfully, this is the easiest of all the emergencies, but expensive nonetheless. They weren't able to get urine because he had been peeing all morning, but they did see what appeared to be crystals in his bladder which prompted X-rays. Thankfully nothing major showed up and we were just given antibiotics and pain management.
I'm not one to ever ask for help or money, but this is one of those times when I have to put my pride aside allow others in.
