Donate some amount please! So we can pay porters to clean up waste in the Himalayas.
Porters are the heroes of the Nepalese Himalayas. They earn their living by carrying goods and luggage all over the mountains. The load seems often too heavy for a human being. Their daily wage is about € 13.
Since the outbreak of Covid-19 there are no jobs for them, which means no income.
It is seasonal work. Without a big tip from foreign trekkers it is impossible for these guys to save up money for the rest of the year. Let alone for times like this.
Our project aims to give them a job, an important job. We pay them € 13 net to collect (plastic) waste in the mountains and rivers.
They work in groups, under guidance of a teamleader, who is a member of ‘Let’s Cleanup Nepal’. The cost for transportation, food and lodging is paid out of the fundraising amount as well.
On the way the Nepalese teamleader gives information regarding the necessity of trash collection and recycling. This is a major item. He teaches the porters, guesthouse owners and school classes.
We spend your money in an economical and honest way. Call, whatsapp or e-mail me about any question. In English, French, Nepali, German, Dutch or Italian.
