Hi, my name is Porsha Taylor. A recent transplant to the South Florida Area, from Maryland. I relocated to South Florida in Late Jan 2023. I currently work as a social worker in the Ft.Lauderdale area.

On Wed, April 12th, 2023 throughout the day we kept receiving flash flood watch alerts. After returning home from work around 9pm we experienced heavier than usual down pour of rain and heavy winds. The rainiest day in history a 1-in-1,000 year rainfall event.While trying to activate sand bags, the water crept into the house quite quickly. Called emergency dispatch and was told that noone would be able to come rescue.Planned escaping through a window due to the water reaching mid thigh/ waist level. During this time my vehicle also took on water.

Once the rain cleared up and damages to the home and car have been assessed, this is looking like a long road ahead. Funds would go towards temporary housing, replacing items that have been damaged, and repair to vehicle. All donations are appreciated. This whole ordeal has been very stressful and taxing.
