Help Poro's Medical Bills

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Dimmy and I'm looking to fundraise towards Poro's medical bills. The decision to make a gofundme wasn't my first choice when looking for options to pay for the medical bills, but through encouragement from friends and family here we are.

Poro's Medical History:

April 30th 5:00PM Found abscessed RIGHT anal gland; admitted to vet hospital 5:30PM, abscess ruptured during exam; taken in for surgery.

Take home treatment: 3 days Meloxadin, Clavaseptin 20 pills, Buprenorphine for pain relief.

May 4th 2:00 PM Poro experiencing a lot of discomfort; Called veterinarian for advice. Gabapentin was prescribed on top of the Buprenorphine for pain relief. Expressed concern of a hard lump on the left side of Poro’s anus of a possible abscessed anal gland but was dismissed.

May 11th 7:46 PM Poro no appetite and sudden green vomiting; X-rays and blood taken; X-rays showed a mass near the base of his tail and anus and an enlarged liver was noted. A physical examination determined there was a colon tear or perineal fistula near the anus opening and a specialist was called to be carried out by surgery specialist.

May 12th 9:00 AM Poro was admitted for afternoon surgery; Picked up Poro 6:00 PM. It was confirmed there was a colon tear and also an abscessed anal gland. Veterinarian & Specialist had determined best course of treatment was not to do invasive surgery but to put him on 3 antibiotics and clear the abscess and heal the colon tear. Medication: Additional 28 pills of Clavaseptin, Baytril, Metronidazole, 3 days of Meloxadin. Additional X-rays confirmed a colon tear near the anus.

May 16th Positives: Poro is no longer having continuous mucus like discharge (as frequent). He was able to eat yesterday on his own without using drugs to induce his appetite. He seems to be more alert and hasn’t vomited yet.

May 23rd Veterinarian calls for emergency ultrasound due to Poro's elevated numbers in his bloodwork. Main concern is the mass found in his abdomen. Results found no immediate cause for concern but to make sure to have a radiologist do another ultrasound as soon as Poro finishes his antibiotics.

June 19th Poro is vomiting on a regular basis so we take him for a check up.

June 24th Poro is scheduled an ultrasound with a radiologist for June 8th. At this point Poro's medical bills were approximately $6,000.

July 8th Radiologist found 2 masses in his abdomen. One was 6.5 cm wide and another at 4 cm wide. Surgery highly recommended with a suspicion of a potential abscess burst in his abdomen. Surgery estimate $10,000.

July 9th Poro goes for an abdominal exploration surgery. Surgery found a 6.5 cm brown fluid sac, a 4 cm abscess, and organ adhesion as a response to the inflammation in his abdomen. During surgery he lost a lot of blood and needed a blood transfusion.

July 10th 3AM Overnight veterinarian called for a plasma transfusion because his protein levels were on the verge of critical. Below is 1 of 4 pages of the transfusion breakdown.

July 11th Poro gets to come home. The additional needed blood and plasma transfusions and ICU care pushed the total another $3,000. Surgery total $13,762.72.

July 18th Poro's culture samples found E.coli and plant material. Along with recovery from the actual surgery, he will have to take antibiotics to clear the remaining bacteria (Cephalexin and Simplicef).

Monitoring: We will need to watch Poro for poor appetite, weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal distension, hyersalivation, collapse, swelling or discharge production from Poro's incision site (Maropitant 16 mg, Amantadine 10 mg/ml, Gabapentin 50 mg).

It has been a long 2.5 months of ups and downs. Around the clock care when Poro was at his worst and couldn't control his bowel movements. We probably used 150 plus pee pads and 4 packs of baby whips. We ate beside him, sat beside him, and slept beside him to make sure he knew he wasn't alone.

At almost a $20,000 vet bill in the last 2.5 months, I am l looking for donations to make sure I don't have to check my credit card limit balance to make sure Poro comes out of this triumphant. Please only donate if you if you have the means to spare a few dollars. Poro may not know his size when he barks at bigger dogs. He also may completely potato when faced with simple doggie tricks, but he's my baby potato. If you get a chance to meet Poro, he is the sweetest dog who loves giving kisses and still plays with his kibble like a puppy. If you would like to meet Poro, you can DM me on pomsky.tesla.poro Instagram so we can provide updates so you can see for yourself how he is doing.

Thank you for taking the time to read Poro's story.
