Hey! My name is Tate. A few months ago, my life was changed in a positive way forever, i adopted a kitten, Porky.
Porky was rescued from an animal hoarding situation right outside of charlotte NC. He was 2 months old when he came into our lives.
Porky has always been abnormally small, even as a baby. When he slept, we’d hear a snore. Something I thought was funny and laughable at the time, turned out to be a sign for something that was very serious.
Almost 3 weeks ago now, Porky began showing more symptoms of a severe illness.Extremely heavy breathing, not eating, wheezing, lethargy and throwing up. He was rushed to the Emergency veterinary office around 11:00PM. There, they told me he probably had a sinus infection, they gave us enough medicine to last a week and a half. We took him home that night and began treating him.
After porky finished his round of medication, I noticed he was progressively getting worse by the hour. Something was very wrong.
The next morning we took porky into a veterinary clinic.
They did x-rays, an ultrasound, and bloodwork that indicated to the doctor that porky has FIP. (Feline infectious peritonitis). I soon realized everything I had thought was something small, was much greater. A few years ago, FIP was diagnosed as 100% fatal. Scientists have since created a medicine, with an 84 day long process of administering shots for FIP that has a 90% success rate.
Porky is now at home, on 5 different medications fighting for his life. This go fund me was created to cover the medical expenses for future weigh ins, to make sure he is growing properly, blood tests that are needed at week 4, week 8, and week 12, and refills on medication. With your support along Porkys journey, I know he will make it out alive!
