The great and powerful wizard of Stand-up needs our help. You may or may not know that our friend and comedian, Dennis Tooley, has been battling MS for several years. He has been such a champion for so many people. Despite this news, Dennis became even more focused on helping people see the great value they have and that no one should live with excuses or regrets. Dennis has committed to performing his stand-up comedy show, “Laughing Your Way Through Life” as a benefit for MS research at least twice a year. He is working on releasing a new comedy special, “Taking Stand Up Comedy to a New Low”, dealing with his struggles with losing the use of his legs and how laughter helps him thrive no matter the struggle. Dennis presses on with his mantra, “This is a speed bump on the road of life. It may slow me down, but it won’t stop me.” Dennis has adopted a motto from the famous theologian Buzz Lightyear, “To Infinity and Beyond!” Our only limits are our own imaginations and our willingness to press on!
Dennis Tooley is the President of Powerhouse Laughs, promoting clean comedy that is consistent with his Christian faith. He has performed his stand-up comedy for thousands of people but is most proud of the show he did at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington DC. Dennis spent 12 years ministering full time with The Salvation Army before joining the staff at the Indiana Youth Institute in 1999 to develop a program called, “Faith in Our Kids.” For the 10 years Dennis served on staff at the Indiana Youth Institute he helped promote healthy youth development by serving the individuals and organization who work with Hoosier Youth. For five seasons Dennis served as an Assistant Chaplain for the Indianapolis Colts. In his work, Dennis has done everything he could to help people see the greatness they have had in them from the day they were born. Dennis’ passion is to help others see, reach, and surpass their greatest potential.
2020 has been especially tough for Dennis due to the pandemic. It has been very difficult to have live audiences and continue his profession. Combined with MS making it nearly impossible for Dennis to perform stand-up comedy any longer it has been a real challenge and a financial burden. However, with the help of some technology and our friends at Numotion, we have found a way to bring Dennis the ability to stand-up while performing stand-up comedy. A new chair design will enable Dennis to stay mobile and keep on helping others. With this new design, insurance will not help defray the costs. Please help us with your donation to reach our goal and support our friend in his mission so he can go on and help support others by standing-up for stand-up comedy!
