Tata Roy "Pops" V. Mendibles has Stage 4 chronic kidney disease. Kidneys usually function to filter the blood, but Tata's kidneys only filter about 15% compared to healthy functioning kidneys.
Roy is a native Tucsonense and is ready to celebrate his 77ᵀᴴ birthday. He is an active tata. He enjoys long walks around Randolph park, night Bingo at the Casino, his famous salsa de chiltepín, and regular visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doctors at Banner Health have recommended Roy for a kidney transplant. He is waiting on the transplant list. The cardiovascular team has already surgically placed a fistula in his left arm. The fistula is where Roy will receive hemodialysis to help filter his blood, since, soon, his kidneys will be unable to serve their vital function.
The funds from this GoFundMe campaign will be used to help offset the costs for the transplant treatment plan including the operation and medication. Your support will directly impact the affordability of the life-saving operation and anti-rejection medication that is so costly.
