Hi friends, my name is Lana, and I’m asking for help for our sweet babygirl, Poppy ‍♥️

Poppy is our 10 month old playful, loving little cockapoo. This pup has brought so much light and joy into our home, and into the lives of everyone she meets. This Friday she started to show a significant and sudden change in her behavior, I knew immediately she was not herself. She was rushed to the emergency animal hospital and after 2 ER visits, what was initially thought to be gastritis and a GI bleed, was later diagnosed as intussusception, a life-threatening condition where part of the intestine folds into itself. She required emergency surgery to save her life. I was given 2 choices- spend $12,000 on a life saving surgery or relinquish my dog. That choice was very clear to me, and I wanted and needed to do everything in my power to save Poppy and give her the chance at life that she deserves.

Watching her go through this has been heartbreaking. It has taken such an emotional and physical toll, not only on Poppy of course, but everyone in the family. One day she was her playful, happy self, and the next we were facing emergency decisions no pet parent is ever truly prepared for. I have been trying to stay strong for Poppy, but also for my 7 year old daughter who loves her puppy more than anything. I had to give Poppy every opportunity to heal and live fully. I would never have been able to live with myself if I did otherwise.

So, we chose to move forward with surgery and hospitalization to give her the healthy life she is meant to live. 2 emergency visits, the surgery itself, hospitalization, and recovery care have come with overwhelming veterinary costs, and we are now facing expenses far beyond what I could have ever anticipated or imagined. We truly cannot do this alone.
