Help Poppy Heal: $15K Needed for Surgery
Donation protected
Meet Poppy, my sweet 1.5 year old pup originally from the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. Poppy was a scared 4 month old puppy when I rescued her from an overcrowded adoption agency and brought her home to start her new life with me in San Francisco. We are the absolute best of friends and have cherished exploring the city on long walks, going camping, and taking hikes together. Poppy developed a limp that quickly worsened, forcing our beloved long hikes and adventures to be replaced with short neighborhood walks that left her stiff, in pain, and barely able to walk. After various vet visits and scans, we learned that Poppy has severe elbow dysplasia in both arms resulting in floating bone fragments, and has already caused arthritis to develop in both limbs. Although her condition is not curable and her arthritis will be a lifelong condition for us to manage, Poppy can be treated with surgery by the team at Sage Veterinary Center in San Francisco to remove the bone fragment and make adjustments to her joint connections. Surgery will cost over $15,000 - in addition to supplements, physical therapy, joint injections, and whatever other treatments she might need to manage her arthritis as she ages. Insurance has rejected coverage of her condition and any/all costs will be solely out of my pocket. Please consider donating to help reduce the financial burden from this medical crisis and get Poppy the care she needs.
Poppy is an energetic, curious, loving, smart little girl who has brought me irreplaceable companionship during a difficult time in my life. I adopted her in January 2024 shortly before the devastating loss of my mom to cancer in October 2024, and Poppy has given me a reason to get up and face the days with love and strength. Poppy loves belly rubs, stealing socks, chasing tennis balls, sniffing all the rosemary and jasmine we pass on walks, forest adventures, giving kisses, & cuddles with her mommy and pals. I am incredibly grateful for anyone who is able to help us in our time of need.
