Help Poppy Breathe Easy: Support Her Surgery

Donativo protegido
Hi all,

My name is Sophie. I am a full time mental health clinician, and on the side, I rescue cats independently in the Bay Area. I have found loving homes for many cats.

This past weekend, I was alerted in a local group about an unhoused woman neglecting a kitten. She had the cat in a small enclosed box in a cart. When a community cat feeder offered her food for the kitten, she stated that she was not allowing the kitten to have any food or water in order to avoid her having any accidents. She also stated that she was the devil and had to die. Two brave volunteers came to the scene right away and grabbed the kitten from her.

My friend, Allison is currently fostering her. She noticed she had labored breathing today so she took her to the vet. After an exam and x-rays, we found out that her diaphragm is torn. As a result, her intestines have traveled up and are pushing on her lungs, affecting her breathing. This is a result of trauma and neglect.

The vet invoice alone is $1,869. Vet office info can be provided. They also estimated that the surgery will be around $2,500 to fix this. In addition, she still needs to be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. I am asking for help since my friend was so gracious to take Poppy in as a foster and we were unprepared for these costs since she presented healthy initially.

Poppy has had a very rough start to life. She deserves the chance to live a beautiful life full of love and warmth after all she has endured. Thank you all so much in advance.
