Help PopCart PDX Keep the Music Rolling

PopCart needs urgent repairs and upgrades to keep the music rolling this summer.
PopCart PDX is a one-of-a-kind, bike-powered DJ booth created by Carlos Baca, a dedicated artist and art educator. Carlos first discovered his love for DJing in his hometown New Mexico rave scene in the mid-2000s. After moving to Portland, Oregon, he continued to share his passion for music and art with his community. When the COVID-19 pandemic closed schools in 2020, Carlos used his spare time to build the first version of PopCart PDX from a classroom cart. With the help of a welder friend, he built a whole new custom aluminum trailer with heavy-duty bike wheels, allowing him to bring spontaneous, socially-distanced dance parties to parks and bike trails across the city.
Since then, PopCart PDX has become a fixture in Oregon’s art and rave community. Carlos has brought the PopCart to major events across Oregon, like the Cascade Equinox Festival, the Blazers’ Green Game at the Moda Center, Oregon Country Fair, and the Duckworth Docks summer DJ party series. His reputation for reliability and creativity has made him a sought-after collaborator, always showing up with his own gear and a commitment to making every event special.
All it would take is 100 people each committing $20.
PopCart PDX needs urgent repairs and upgrades to keep the music going and the sound rig rolling through town. The most pressing needs are fixing a broken wheel and re-welding the wheel axle. Excess funds would be put toward all the other maintence costs related to upgrading the speakers, DJ mixers, battery power, and LED lights that all serve to enhance the mobile dance party experience. With weekly beach parties booked through the end of August, these repairs are essential to ensure PopCart PDX can continue doing what it does best. Your support will help Carlos keep the music rolling and the dance floors alive all summer long.
This crowdfunding campaign has been lovingly prepared by Carlos' partner Annette, who would love to see what else this great sound rig can do in it's current iteration. It just needs a boost of funds from the community to get the rig spiffed up, and the wheels rolling again. She can be contacted via Instagram at @annettepdx .
