Help Popa take care of his family

Donation protected
Close friends of the Castaneda family mourn the passing of John (Popa) Castaneda, a husband, a father, a grandfather and a friend to all. Over the past 23 years many of you will remember Popa as the friendly face of McDivot’s, his honest heart-felt love that he radiated to all those he met was genuine and infectious. He had a bigger than life persona that made everyone who ever met him know you were immediately accepted into his family. His steady presence at McDivot’s allowed us all to have a place to go “where everyone knows your name”. On October 1st Popa started to not feel well, which was the beginning of a hard-fought health battle that lasted for 23 long days of intensive medical treatment at St. Joseph’s hospital on Van Dyke Road. We thank the doctors and nurses for their compassion and amazing efforts.

Sadly, on October 23rd Popa was taken from us way to soon and leaves behind a loving family that needs the support of the many friends whose lives were touched by Popa and the Castaneda family. Considering Popa provided the primary source of income for his family, our goal is to raise funds for his wife Mandy and 6-year-old son Elijah in this time of need. Popa would be at peace knowing that Mandy didn’t have to worry about the medical bills left behind after his lengthy hospital stay and that a college fund was established for his son Elijah. Popa was a family first type of man and he treated every person he ever met just like they were his own. It’s now our time as Popa’s extended family to support Elijah, Mandy and the entire Castaneda family. We encourage you to donate if you can.  I am Ramona Del Bono, the organizer of this GFM.  For the ones that don't already know.  Im Mandy's mother and John's mother in law.  I am giving an update on where these donations will be going.   Mandy has a mortgage and many other bills that we all know Popa was the sole provider for. Those will be paid and the many bills that have started to come in from his 23 day hospital stay.  Mandy is the beneficiary on this account and it will go straight into her bank. This was added so GFM and all the donators have the up to date information about this fundraiser. The Castaneda family thanks every one of you for your help!
