As some of you know, sweet Henry already had to have ACL surgery on his right hind leg. Turns out 50% + dogs who tear one ACL, tear the other one shortly after the 1st surgery. Sadly, Henry is one of those 50% and he now needs the same surgery on his left hind leg. The vet says that right now every step is causing him pain, and it breaks our hearts to see him hurting, so the sooner the better. Unfortunately, Pooja went into debt on the first surgery and needs our help to pay for the second. Pooja and I have been leading ARC Gender Justice for years, building an organization led by incarcerated trans people and others fighting for gender justice across prison walls–but it’s a small budget organization, so most of her time has been volunteer. And like many consultants in our movements, her paid opportunities have shrunk since Trump took office and many organizations have had to make lay offs. Let’s support Henry in having a pain-free future and Pooja in having her beloved support animal with her and feeling well! She’s too modest to want me to get into this, but she’s been an incredible movement leader for decades who always gives generously to others, and of course Henry is a sweetheart who spreads joy wherever he goes–let’s give what we can and show up for them now!
