I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but my sweet boy Poncho really needs help right now. Poncho went in for a simple, routine dental cleaning. He came home sleepy from the anesthesia, and I thought everything was okay. But the next day, around 2 to 3 pm, everything suddenly went wrong.

Out of nowhere, Poncho began vomiting nonstop. I rushed him back to the vet, hoping it was just an upset stomach, and they gave him anti nausea medication. But instead of improving, he continued to get worse. He couldn’t keep anything down and became weaker by the hour.

By that evening, I rushed him to the emergency hospital, terrified for him. During the night, Poncho began vomiting blood and developed bloody diarrhea. The doctors discovered that his stomach wall is severely inflamed, he has excess air in his stomach, and he may have a stomach ulcer, but they still don’t know exactly what is causing it. He’s now hospitalized, on IV fluids, being monitored closely, and undergoing more tests including an ultrasound to figure out what is going on.

Seeing him struggle like this has been heartbreaking. Poncho is not just a pet. He is my family, my comfort, my little soul companion. Watching him so sick and not having clear answers yet has been incredibly painful.

Since then, he has been transferred to a specialist for more advanced testing because we still don’t have the answers we need. I’m doing everything I can to get him the care he deserves, but the emergency bills are already nearing ten thousand dollars and counting as we try to figure out what is going on. Everything is coming out of pocket, and the costs have become overwhelming.

All donations will go directly toward Poncho’s medical care. His bills are already close to ten thousand dollars and still rising as we work to find out what is causing his severe stomach damage. The costs include:

• Overnight monitoring and nursing care

• Ultrasound, X rays, blood work, and advanced imaging

• Endoscopy and biopsy procedures

• Strong antibiotics and medications
