My name is Riley and this fundraiser is for my beloved dog, Polly. As some of you may know, Polly and I are survivors of domestic violence. About two years ago, there was an incident in which Polly was strangled, and she developed pneumonia on top of her injuries. Polly's a trooper and, after a couple nights in the ER, she was able to pull through, but due to these injuries being more severe than we originally thought, she continues to suffer bouts of pneumonia. She's currently fighting through her second ER visit just this year.

Cannulas delivering oxygen around the clock, IV fluids and antibiotics, xrays and ultrasounds and blood panels, multiple overnight visits... it all adds up very quickly, and that's just to stabilize her condition so that she can come home as soon as possible. Once she's back home, we'll be consulting an internal medicine specialist to survey the damage to her larynx, and even consider procedures such as a larynx transplant so she doesn't have to keep suffering.

Polly is three and a half years old, and I've had her since she was fourteen weeks. I have watched her grow from a baby into an incredible dog. She is the very definition of a gentle giantess and is in the process of becoming a therapy dog. Polly is so incredibly sweet and docile and lovable; it floors me to think of anybody ever laying a hand on her. She doesn't deserve to still be paying the price from the actions of a jerk who we haven't even seen in two years.

I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that Polly is the love of my life, and I would do anything for her. I guess that includes me begging for any help we can get.
