We are humbly asking for your help in raising funds for our daughter Polly, who was recently diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder, and has an opportunity to receive life-changing treatment through HML Chiropractic and Functional Care.

For those who know Polly, you likely have some awareness of her medical history. Since she was an infant, she has suffered from both acute and chronic medical conditions that have caused debilitating pain and paralysis, severely impacting her mobility and quality of life. Throughout her childhood, we sought help from neurology, neurosurgery, and endocrinology specialists with Kaiser, Mercy (Dignity Health), Sutter, and UC Davis health systems in Sacramento, but were often left with more questions than answers. After another recent health crisis, Polly sought care through Mosaic Life Care, St. Luke's Hospital, and Kansas University health systems in Missouri and Kansas. Through neurological care for an acute episode at KU Pain Clinic, she finally received a diagnosis that provided conclusive answers to all the unanswered questions she has had about her own health, mobility, and functionality.

Functional Neurological Disorder not only encompasses all of Polly's varying disabilities that impact her motor function and mobility, but also the way her brain processes pain. With this comprehensive diagnosis, Polly now has an invaluable opportunity to receive proper treatment that offers the possibility of rehabilitation for the first time in her life.

However, such treatment and support for chronic illness related to FND is not covered by Medicaid.

Furthermore, traditional neurology-- which typically deals in treatment of structural diseases of the brain-- does not offer comprehensive treatment protocols for functional brain disorders. This is why we are pursuing functional medicine treatment options, despite the lack of coverage through insurance.

Treatment for FND can be expensive, so we are turning to you, our Sacramento and St. Joseph communities, to help our daughter access the care she needs. The initial exam through HML Chiropractic and Functional Care is quoted at $850 - $1000. Additional intensive treatment protocols through Sharlin Health and Neurology are quoted at $12k-15k. We are asking for your help to cover these costs. We hope and pray that we can raise the necessary funds for treatment to provide a clear path to functionality and wellness for our precious daughter Polly.
