Hey there wonderful people!
We're Ohrangutang (Mike) & Alanna, and we're here to share a rollercoaster of a story about our furry family member, Poky. So, picture this: one day, out of the blue, our adventurous pup Poky experienced a slip disc in his back that left him paralyzed in less than 24 hours. Can you believe it? It was like something out of a doggy drama series! Rushing to the vet, we were given a mere 24-hour window to make a life-changing decision: shell out for a pricey surgery or face the heartbreaking alternative of letting Poky go. Now, as any devoted dog parent can attest, there was no question about it—Poky's life was worth every penny.
So, into surgery Poky went, with us crossing our fingers and emptying our pockets to the tune of $12,000 upfront, plus an extra $2k for meds and extended care. And let me tell you, that's not even counting the mountain of accessories and gadgets we've had to invest in to accommodate our newly-disabled fur baby. But hey, anything for our little king of the house, right?
Now, if you've ever had the pleasure of meeting Poky, you'll know he's not your average lapdog. No sir, this pup's zest for life knows no bounds! His favorite pastime? Exploring every nook and cranny of our yard and greeting visitors at the door with a wagging tail...and the occasional nibble for good measure! Yep, Poky's got a knack for giving the unexpected love bite, much to the amusement (and sometimes chagrin) of our guests.
But back to the serious stuff. It's been nearly two months since Poky's surgery, and while we're overjoyed to see signs of progress, he's still relying on us for the basics—peeing, pooping, and yes, even walking. He's taking up about 4 hours minimun of our time per day for care, and that has affected our workflow and income. Without the expertise of professional therapy, the odds of Poky regaining full mobility are looking a bit ruff. That's where you come in, dear friends.
We're on a mission to give Poky the best shot at recovery, and that means investing in some top-notch therapy that comes with a hefty price tag—over $2,000 for just the first month! But trust us when we say, the potential payoff in Poky's quality of life is priceless. So, whether you can spare a few dollars or simply share our story far and wide, every bit helps.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering joining us on this journey to get Poky back on his paws. Who knows? With your support, he might just be sinking those teeth into ankles once again in no time—much to everyone's delight (or dismay)!
