Hello community! I need your help to make a major step in my journey as a poet!
This year I was accepted to participate in the highly esteemed Bread Loaf Writer's Conference in August. This is a annual conference that has been going on for 100 years and is a super competitive event to be a part of, as I was told in my acceptance email this year the conference was only "able to accept 20 percent of those who applied as paying participants this year." The conference is from August 13 - 23, I have to have my final payments in by early August.
So you can understand why I really want to go. Conferences like this can be life changing for poets and I really want to go! Also many of you may know I was just awarded my MFA in Literary Arts from Brown University and this is like a dream post grad opportunity to take part in. This is the Skowhegan for writers.
With that said, the conference like the Skowhegan is not free. The fee for the 2025 conference is $4,250 (includes tuition, $2,795; room, $505; and board, $950). As a post grad student, I definitely do not have the funs to pay for this, so I am relying on community to help me make this happen. Donate if you can, I'll surely appreciate it. Your support means everything and it will surely help me continue to thrive as an artist, a poet!
"For ten days in August, Participants and Fellows will experience the opportunity of working under the guidance of notable writers, including MacArthur Fellows, U.S. Poets Laureate, and recipients of the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award.
Our rural and scenic setting amid the Green Mountains on Middlebury’s Bread Loaf campus provides an ideal environment for discussing manuscripts, sharing insights, getting to know agents and editors, and becoming acquainted with the next generation of significant writers." - From the website.
