The Iconic Pocna Dive Centre in Isla Mujeres needs your help!

Pocna Dive Centre has been the beating heart of Isla Mujeres, Mexico for many years. Employing the local community and helping the island thrive, Pocna Dive Centre has seen many international tourists come here to learn diving skills and have an incredible experience - all while supporting the local community.
As you know, everyone around the world has been affected by Covid-19. The world has come to a standstill and Isla Mujeres has been closed down. There is a 100% vacancy rate in hotels, beaches are closed, all future bookings cancelled, and deposits refunded.
Our industry relies on tourism and there are no tourists as of this moment and nobody knows when confidence and economy will enable people to travel again.
Our doors have been closed for a month now. We had been operating out of Pocna hostel that has been under remodelling for the last 8 months, so we have already missed our high season. Compile this with the worst two months of weather in January and February that caused 60% closure of the ports in this time period, well, the pandemic has caught us without reserves to deal with this situation.
The most affected are our wonderful staff. Many of them are away from their families with no source of income until we do not know when.
We have zero revenue to cover our fixed expenses to be able to continue until the situation changes. The Mexican government does not offer any support.
We have rent, utilities, maintenance, motor repayments, our compressor and equipment that all need to be maintained, and of course our staff to pay. We started 8 years ago with a tricycle and 10 sets of equipment. We have worked so very hard to achieve the level that we have achieved and now we are unable to continue to maintain it.
We are trying to ensure that our staff are receiving some financial assistance until work returns but we do not have enough to maintain this any longer.
If you have dived with us, you will know our team and the magic that they create in this dive center. We want to support them in this difficult time, and we hope that you can help them and our center.
We have created the Go Fund Me to help pay for the following mentioned above with the majority going to the staff and their families, without whom, we would not be the dive center we are, and without the dive center, they have no income. Two of our staff have babies under 1 month. One was born a week ago.

Nuestra industria depende del turismo y no hay turistas en este momento y nadie sabe cuándo la confianza y la economía permitirán que las personas viajen nuevamente
Nuestras puertas han estado cerradas por un mes. Habíamos estado operando en un Hostal que ha estado en remodelación durante los últimos 8 meses, por lo que ya nos hemos perdido nuestra temporada alta. Compile esto con los peores dos meses de clima Enero y Febrero que causaron el cierre del 60% de los puertos en su período de tiempo, la pandemia nos ha atrapado sin reservas para hacer frente a esta situación.
Los más afectados son nuestro maravilloso personal. Muchos de ellos están lejos de sus familias sin ninguna fuente de ingresos hasta que no sepamos cuándo.
Tenemos cero ingresos para cubrir nuestros gastos fijos y poder continuar hasta que la situación cambie. El gobierno mexicano no ofrece ningún apoyo.
Tenemos alquiler, servicios públicos, mantenimiento, pagos de motores, nuestro compresor y equipos que todos necesitan ser mantenidos. Comenzamos hace 8 años con un triciclo y 10 equipos. Hemos trabajado muy duro para alcanzar el nivel que hemos alcanzado y ahora no podemos continuar manteniéndolo.
Estamos tratando de asegurarnos de que nuestro personal reciba asistencia financiera hasta que regrese el trabajo, pero no tenemos suficiente para mantener esto por más tiempo.
