My name is Robert Ball. I am 64 years old and disabled, living on a fixed income. Recently, my home caught on fire while I was trying to unthaw my water. I didn’t know that my neighbor had put a space heater in the crawl space and left it unattended. At 5am, I woke up to a house full of smoke. I quickly put on my shoes and coat, grabbed my 17-year-old blind dog, and yelled for my friend to get out and call the fire department. The fire department arrived quickly and put out the fire, but there is a lot of damage inside the house. The bathroom is destroyed, with daylight visible through the walls, and all the plumbing, electrical, insulation, sheetrock, hot water heater, and fixtures need to be replaced. The rest of the house is covered in soot, a window was broken to let out smoke, and most of my clothes are ruined. My car is broken down, and I have to pack in water and have nowhere to use the bathroom. The fire chief told me I shouldn't stay in the house, but I have nowhere else to go. I turned off the electricity to the back of the house and blocked it off to keep the heat in. I'm cleaning up as best I can, but it's very difficult. I have received a little help from the Salvation Army, but the costs are much more than I can afford on my fixed income. I have always been able to help myself, but now I am in a situation where I truly need support. It is very humbling to ask for help, but I am in a really bad situation and could use any support to save my home for myself and my old dog. Thank you very much for any help you can give. since then my roommate and friend of 50 years passed away because we still don't have any water the neiģhor that caught my house on fire has stopped helping me and started stealing from me me and stole my roommates stuff while he was dieing in the hospital nobody will work for free I have most of the materials to fix my home I don't have any funds to pay for it and I have called our local companies for help and I need your help badly plz to get this done I truly don't know what else to do since my friend died on me he was helping out with the bills left owing me so am stuck paying off all the bills and try to feed me and my old dog roscoe for a month before I can do anything plz help me out anyway you can right now thank you so very very much Robert Ball [email redacted]
