Help Pluto Get Essential Surgery

Donation protected
My name is Jess, and I have the great privilege to call Pluto the Pomeranian Yorkie (or a Porkie, if you may) my partner in crime. He is an expressive little guy that has a deep, unrelenting passion for car rides, sticking his tongue out, blankets, and roast beef. If you offer him any of these things he will love you forever.

Pluto and I have a special bond where I can almost always tell what he wants, and he comes running from wherever he is if he hears me crying, just to lick the tears away. He has been through it all with me; college, a pandemic, a tough master's degree, mental health struggles, a recent move out of our parents' place, and so much more. This is why the news that he may have cancer has shaken me to my core.

Three weeks ago, Pluto was at the vet and had a routine procedure done at the end of his visit. As the vet cleaned out his anal glands, she found a small mass that raised concerns. Pluto needs surgery to remove and test the tumour to determine if it is a benign apocrine adenoma or aggressive cancer called apocrine adenocarcinoma of the anal sac. If he is cancer free, then his life will continue on as usual and the removal of the tumour will eliminate the risk of infections in his anal glands due to the tumour. If it is cancerous, we are hoping that it will remove all of it since we caught it so soon.

Unfortunately, the required testing and surgery will cost about $5200. His first appointment is April 30th, 2022. I just finished seven straight years of post-secondary school and moved out on my own just a little under two months ago, resulting in me not being able to cover the costs. Once I am able to cover the costs for everything, we can book his surgery.

Pluto means the world to me and has been more than just a dog. He is my best friend, always knows how to make me smile when I’m sad, and is the best cuddler ever. He’s also pretty dang cute. If you’ve met him, you probably fell in love with him.

If you are able and willing to donate, thank you so much. Every penny counts. If you can’t donate, thoughts and prayers are welcomed and very appreciated.

I will submit all vet bills to this page once I receive them and will keep sending updates as they arise.
