Help Playwright Employ Actors & Artists present Makeover Me.

I am Kenneth Scott, a playwright.

I am seeking support for my current play project, Makeover Me.

Twelve actors and artists have agreed to participate in staged readings of the play script.

These readings will be held at the Jericho Arts Centre Theatre

on October 4th, 5th, and 6th, 2024.

Creating and producing a play from page to stage with trained actors and artists involves significant expenses.

One of my foundational beliefs is that talent should be compensated fairly.

Many actors and artists support themselves and their families with earnings from shows they are cast in. These artists have invested years in training at arts schools, yet many earn only slightly more than a minimum hourly wage for their talents.

The Makeover Me play project requires funding support to pay all 12 artists involved in this project. Any revenue earned from box office receipts will go entirely towards paying for the rental of the theatre venue and its technical staff.

I have self-financed four play projects* and understand the reality costs of producing theatre events.

What is Needed:

• A contribution from you to help support six days of paid work to actors/artists, including 1st reading, workshop, rehearsal, and 3 presentations.

• All members of the Makeover Me ensemble have agreed to their roles and will be paid with contracted remuneration.

• A rental deposit to the theatre has already been paid by me to reserve the 6 dates to produce the event.

I am setting a GoFundMe goal of $5,000 to be raised. The Makeover Me play project gratefully accepts any contribution amount.
