Last night, Plant Playground - a place so many of us consider a sanctuary - was destroyed by fire.
Thankfully, no one was hurt, neighbouring businesses were unaffected, and emergency services have confirmed the fire was non-suspicious, caused by an undetermined electrical fault. We’re deeply grateful to the local firefighters and emergency response teams who worked through the night with care and kindness.
Despite this, the loss is devastating.
Only days ago, Plant Playground was full of life. To see it reduced to this in a matter of hours is heartbreaking beyond words. Years of love, intention, creativity, and hard work were lost overnight.
Plant Playground has always been more than a business. It’s been a calm, welcoming space centred on plants, sustainability, learning, and community. It was also home to four beautiful small businesses -

Each has been deeply impacted by the loss of this shared space.
While there is contents insurance, there is no business income protection. That means there is no support for lost income while they’re closed. Until a new space can be found and rebuilt, Sasha and Alex are carrying the full weight of this loss themselves.
Right now, they need time, space, and support to even work out what coming back looks like. The emotional toll is heavy, and the financial reality makes an already overwhelming situation even harder.
This GoFundMe exists to help bridge that gap. It’s about easing immediate financial pressure, supporting them through this forced closure, and giving them the breathing room needed to make thoughtful decisions about how - and when - they can rebuild.
Plant Playground gave so much to this community. This is our chance to return that care.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps. And if you’re unable to donate, sharing this page is a powerful way to stand with them.
From here, it’s one step at a time - and they don’t have to take those steps alone.
