Help PJ Augustiro Receive a Life-Saving Heart Transplant

With a humble heart, we are asking for your prayers, support, and help during one of the most difficult journeys we have ever faced.

PJ Augustiro — a husband, father, grandfather, friend, mentor, and pillar in our Molokaʻi community — is in urgent need of a heart transplant.

After an unexpected event last week, doctors have confirmed that PJ’s best chance at survival is a heart transplant. Within the next 3–4 weeks, PJ and his wife Piilani will need to travel to UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco, California, where he will undergo evaluation, treatment, and eventually the transplant surgery that will save his life.

This journey requires PJ to remain in California for an extended period of time while waiting for a donor heart and throughout the recovery process.

Why We Are Asking for Help - Leaving home for months at a time brings emotional, physical, and financial challenges. While our focus is on PJ’s health and recovery, the reality is that the costs surrounding a transplant journey are overwhelming.

Funds raised will help cover:

• Airfare and travel between Hawaiʻi and California

• Long-term housing near the hospital

• Medical expenses not covered by insurance

• Post-transplant medications and care

• Transportation while in California

• Living expenses while PJ is unable to work

• Support for family traveling to assist during recovery

Who PJ Is - If you know PJ, you know his heart has always been bigger than life itself.

PJ has spent his life in the service of others — whether it’s through personal encounters, Friendly Market Center, community events, helping friends and family, or bringing people together. He has always shown up when someone needed help.

Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
