Pizza was the beloved cat of his father Jayme, who was part of our family for 15 years. When Jayme passed away in New York in 2024, Pizza never left his side—even in death. Jayme’s landlord found Pizza sleeping on his father for two days after he passed. He witnessed his father’s death and never left his side. Animal control took Pizza to the same rescue Jayme donated to, and while friends and family tried to care for him, Pizza’s strong personality made it difficult. My brother, Jayme’s partner of many years, flew back to New York to bring Pizza home to LA, where he now lives with us.

Recently, Pizza’s eye became cloudy, and after a vet visit in West Hollywood, he was diagnosed with a condition that will cause blindness and will eventually require a $7k surgery to remove his eye. His medications prescribed have given him a corneal ulcer that requires even more meds and vet visits.  Pizza has a strong will and a zest for life—this isn’t the end of his story. He adores us, and we adore him. We have four other cats, but this unexpected health issue is causing a huge financial burden.

The funds raised will go toward Pizza’s vet visits which have been $500 a week at 6 visits so far, specialist appointments, and any surgery he may need. Removing the panic and worry of financial restraints will help us focus on giving him all the care he needs in his safe forever home.
