Help Pippa Walk Again with Spinal Surgery

Hello,

my name is Sarah McCormic and my husband and I are pet parents to a little beagle named Pippa who is a rescue. With her being a tiny long backed dog, she has back problems caused by IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) which we had no idea was even a thing.

last night (1/18) Pippa was trying to go upstairs and slipped on the steps. This minor mis- step completely destroyed her ability to use her hind legs and properly use the bathroom. I took her to blue pearl emergency vet and they recommended spinal surgery which has a high recovery chance. Pet insurance is not an option as this is a pre-existing condition and they won’t cover it. For the MRI and surgery I was quoted 10 thousand dollars.

at this time I’ve been trying to treat her by medication and crate rest however the chances of recovery are very slim and we are praying for a chance to have this surgery!

Anything helps at this time, and if you can’t donate please just take a moment and say a prayer for her recovery ❤️‍

1/20 UPDATE -
my husband and I were able to secure a loan to cover the costs of the surgery and MRI thankfully so miss Pippa is currently receiving the care she needs. Her MRI will happen today or
early tomorrow! Please continue to share or say a prayer for her. Anything is appreciated to help us with the emotional and financial challenges we are facing

1/21 UPDATE
mid afternoon on the 20th Pippa went in for her surgery. Everything went great according to the Dr. and they stated they were able to removes an extensive amount of compressed material. She is now recovering for the next few days. Please keep your fingers crossed she can walk again soon ❤️

1/25 UPDATE:
Pippa was able to come home yesterday afternoon (1/24) and will be on strict crate rest for the next two week. Would you believe she’s able to support herself in short bursts on her hind legs? She has surpassed the doctors expectations by a mile and has an amazing prognosis. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers and share, as she still has a long road ahead!❤️

2/6/26
Pippa had her staples removed today! She is walking, running and playing with limitations so she doesn’t over exert herself! We are so grateful, and the vets were smiling ear to ear seeing how she has progressed! It’s been a long two weeks of crate rest but it has paid off!
