Update on Pinky's Journey:
His last photo with me this morning!
It has been an emotional day for me, and I am feeling very blessed to have been able to get Pinky healthy and on his way to finding his forever home!
I have finally found an organization that I believe in and who have been honest and upfront about how they will foster Pinky and place him in a good, loving home!
I look forward to helping EAPL of Canon City in the future as a volunteer!
Thank you to both Eileen and Sharon with Evergreen Animal Protective League of Canon City for taking Pinky on the next phase of his journey!
I am confident and at peace that he is in good hands!
Thank you to all of you who supported his journey through prayers and on GoFundMe!
God has placed the care of animals in human hands!
I am thankful God placed Pinky in my life.....
The beginning 8/20/2025
PINKY, A FERAL INJURED KITTEN HELPED!!!!
We saw a limping feral kitten in an alley as we were driving home from Pueblo. We stopped, seeing it was injured and we noticed a missing back left paw. He was being picked on by an older feral cat, as we walked slowly up the alley. There were many cats but he looked like he needed our help the most! We had to rescue this little guy! He would not have made it!
He just scampered to try and hide after being swatted by the other cat.
Luckily we were able to catch him.
Brought him home safe. Got him set up in his own area, with fresh food, water and a bed in a bed.
We started to work on gaining his trust.
After a few days I was able to pick him up and start to wipe away the dirt and grim.
Found out he was a male.
He purred and tried to snuggle and I bonded with him quickly.
Noticed he had some dry skin on his head, paws, back and other areas. YES....ringworm!
Poor little guy!
This just added to his low weight and his Injury.
As I was able to get him a bath and start addressing the ringworm, he became more lethargic. His little back leg was now pink from his bath and all the wound was exposed.
He got a fever and things changed quickly!
We got him to a vet and......
The vet got us in the same day, he checked him over. Pinky's temperature was up past 104 degrees!!
They cleaned up his wound and the vet came up with a plan of care, and follow up for Pinky!
They gave me oral antibiotics to administer for his fever caused by an infection; from the paw loss injury!
(I can only imagine what horrible thing happened that caused his paw to be injured and amputated that way!! The vet agreed with us thinkg it was caught in some sort of trap or some machine.....weeks before!!!)
They said he is about 10 weeks old.
The stump needs some surgery, once the infection comes down and he gets started on his vaccinations.
We are needing help with going forward with his follow-up, surgery and vaccinations and what may come up with those next hurdles.
Please give so we can ensure Pinky gets the care he needs as we continue to nurse him back to health.
I want to Thank Robin, with JJ's Helping Paws and other Volunteers there.
Without such a caring hearted person, who made sure we had the cage, food, and a starter assortment of kitten food and nourishment to get through the next few weeks...it would be twice as hard to provide the Love and care that Pinky needs!
