Pili Fuentes grew up with a military family where her life was marked by constant movement. From an early age, she learned to adapt, to rebuild, and to face the unknown with resilience.
In 2017, Pili’s life changed forever when she discovered a lump on the calf of her right leg which proved to be malignant. She was diagnosed with differentiated liposarcoma - an aggressive soft tissue sarcoma. This was the beginning of an extremely challenging chapter in Pili’s life.
In the midst of her adversity, Pili created Flower House Mexico, an incredibly uplifting workshop which combines the transformative power of flowers as a vehicle to fundraise for cancer treatment and research in Mexico. Despite Pili’s own struggles, these five workshops have raised a substantial sum of money for cancer patients and their families facing critical economic challenges.
From 2017 until now, Pili has undergone multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, isolated limb profusion among other treatments. Despite every effort, the tumor kept returning, growing more aggressive each time. Recently the sarcoma led to severe anemia and her health deteriorated drastically. The only option to save her life became the amputation of her right leg.
Since her recent amputation surgery, her health has improved. However, coming to terms with losing her leg has been an emotional and physical journey. Pili is preparing for a transfemoral (above‑knee) prosthetic leg which will be transformative and allow her to walk again.
The expenses for prosthesis and rehabilitation will be financially overwhelming. All funds raised will be used specifically for her custom prosthesis - including the socket, knee joint, and foot components, fitting appointments, adjustments, therapy & rehabilitation sessions.
Your efforts will provide Pili with the opportunity not only to walk again, but to also sustain herself through work and rebuild her life with positivity and gratitude. Please consider helping Pili. Every donation—no matter the size—brings Pili closer to her next step.
