My name is Kara, and I have a wonderful cat to whom we affectionately refer to as Monster. About 3 years ago he was diagnosed with an unusual case of lymphoma manifesting in his eye, and through the help of our loved ones and donors here on GoFundMe we were able to give him the surgery and treatment he needed to pull through. Today, after being out of remission for over 2 years, he seems to fighting some sort of kidney issue.
Over the last week we had noticed that he was losing weight and wasn't eating as much, and when he couldn't seem to eat some of his favorite treats this morning we knew it had to be something only a doctor could help us with. We thought maybe he was having an issue with his teeth or a sore in his mouth that was making eating dry food difficult, as he seemed to eat tuna just fine. After many hours of waiting to hear from the vet once we brought him in, the doctor told us that his body chemistry is looking very unusual and could potentially be linked to some sort of kidney disease. They recommended hospitalizing him for 24-48 hours (maybe more, depending) so that they could confirm how treatable it may be. All our greatest fears are that his lymphoma is coming back in his kidneys, and we are suddenly looking down the barrel of saying goodbye to our sweet baby boy.
But the kicker is this: the fees for the hospitalization and examinations is more than we can afford. It's leaving us at a loss for what to do. It could be something treatable and not worth abruptly ending his life over, but we also don't want to drag out any pain and suffering he may be going through. We can only hope that by making this GoFundMe that we can raise enough money to be able to afford what may potentially be his very last bit of treatment.
If you are able to help us with this, we can only thank you. I just don't want to make the wrong decision when it comes to Monster's care, even as we potentially face saying goodbye to him sooner than we hoped. Anything you can offer is enough.
Thank you. And please hug your fur babies for me.
