We are urgently seeking help for our 31-year-old son Piet. He needs intensive residential treatment for severe Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). OCD has stolen most of Piet's adolescence and young adult life, causing him to abandon college in his first year, and to leave his job a short time later.
Despite years of out-patient counseling, medication, and an inpatient hospital stay, the relentless, driving thoughts and rituals of this neuro-biological disorder continue to steal more and more hours and years of his life.
His current psychologist is trained in the evidence-based treatment called Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). She is recommending that Piet have an intensive, extended ERP treatment, only available in a residential setting. He will need to go out of state to one of only a few specialized residential programs in the nation that treat OCD exclusively.
His insurance does not cover any of this treatment. Piet is unable to function at home at this time in any healthy manner, and we are all very desperate and concerned about his mental and physical well-being. The projected cost of the treatment needed (his treatment time will be between 4-6 months) is more than $100,000.
If you can afford any contribution to his recovery, we would be so grateful! But other ways you can help are through your good thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much for your help.
