Pierogi the Paralyzed Pug needs medical care

Hi, I'm Pierogi the pug!

I developed a hemivertebrae (wedge vertebrae) when I was about 5 months old. That means the bones in my spine don't work like they should. I lost the use of my back legs and now need help going to the bathroom (Google 'bladder expression' for some fun!).

Once I couldn't move as well as other pups, I was dumped at the South LA shelter. I also had my voice box cut out by my previous owners, so I am totally silent. The awesome gang at A Purposeful Rescue saved me from the shelter and got me a donated wheelchair.

Now, I have a forever home and the best dads in the whole world.


Because I'm a little, itsy, bitty bit of a handful, I want to help my dads.

I have a lot of medical bills:
MRI and CT with hospital stay (at BrightCare Vet Hospital): $4,811.67
Surgical options: $2500-$6500
Initial Vet and Physical Therapy consultation (at 2 Hearts 4 Paws) $485.61
Trip to the VCA Animal Hospital ($254)

My ongoing care and therapeutics (incl. doctor-recommended acupuncture, hydrotherapy): $150/session... these sessions really help with my pain and allows me to keep using my wheelchair. I can *almost run now! 

Pet insurance doesn't cover pups like me with pre-existing conditions, so my dads have to pay out of pocket. On something called a credit card!?

My dads love me so much and will care for me no matter what, but it would be pretty cool if I could walk again... even a little. The doctors have hope that that's possible! Or at least that I can recover some feeling in my back legs.
