Hello, my name is Piero Ruiz Rodriguez, and I’m reaching out to you during an incredibly challenging time. I need your kind assistance to help me cover costs for emergency surgery, hospitals stays, treatment, and future procedures.

Recently, I had to undergo an emergency colectomy due to a case of Toxic Megacolon with necrotic tissue. In simple terms, my entire colon was removed as the organ was actively failing through an extremely painful process. This surgery was absolutely necessary to save my life, but unfortunately, the recovery process has been much more complicated than expected.

Since the emergency surgery, I’ve faced several complications, including abdominal abscesses, pleural effusion (fluid in my lungs), and multiple blood transfusions. From the beginning of my severe Ulcerative Colitis symptoms in November 2024 to January 2025, I lost over 50 pounds and nearly all of my strength. These ongoing issues have required additional treatments and extended hospital stays, and they are still being addressed. The physical, emotional, and financial toll from this experience is easily the greatest hardship I’ve ever faced.

To add to the challenges, I will need to undergo two additional surgeries to create a J-pouch, which is essential for restoring my digestive system. These surgeries will require additional recovery periods, during which I will require further hospitalizations and time away from work. I will need ongoing care, physical therapy, and follow-up appointments, all of which come with significant costs.

The financial burden of this series of surgeries, treatments, and complications has been immense, and even with insurance, I am still facing substantial out-of-pocket expenses.

    •    Upcoming J-pouch surgeries and related medical expenses

    •    Medications, treatments, and follow-up care
