I am 77 years old and recently suffered a serious wrist injury after slipping and falling while taking out the trash on a rainy day. All my weight landed on my hand, and although I was fortunate not to have more severe injuries, my wrist did not heal as doctors had hoped. After a month of waiting, it became clear that surgery is now necessary. This is especially difficult for me because I previously had foot surgery that did not heal correctly, and I still walk with some difficulty.

I live with my daughter, who has two herniated discs and can only work limited hours, my son-in-law, and my two-year-old granddaughter. My daughter and son-in-law cover our household expenses, but with my daughter’s health issues and my inability to work, our resources are stretched thin. My injury has made it impossible for me to help with daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, or caring for my granddaughter. I now rely on my family for help with basic needs, including bathing and getting dressed, and I spend most of my time in my bedroom out of fear of falling again.

The funds raised will go toward covering all costs related to my wrist surgery and post-surgery recovery, including physical therapy at the hospital. My doctor, Barry E.
