My name is Lorianne Kloss and I founded the Dumped Bunny field rescue team in 2017. This year has been the worst year in rescue for rabbits with 352 abandoned outside since Easter 2024. We've had up to 30 at a time waiting for rescue placement and our vet bills have gotten out of hand. We considered having a limit and a budget which has been impossible since none of us can leave a domestic rabbit outside to die. Our current vet bill is over $800 and we have $500 in funds. We also have 3 major medical cases. Pico from the Lake Zurich rescue has been seeing an ophthalmologist at our out of pocket expense. He has glaucoma and is blind due to trauma. He is a wonderful boy who wants to live but the amount of pressure in both eyes is unbearable. He has a recheck on 12/17 where we will likely get confirmation that a double enucleation is needed. That procedure alone will be over $1000. Then we have Palmer. A sweet agouti boy rescued on the streets of Chicago. It was noticed that he had a very swollen and painful paw. After medication and 2 sets of xrays later, his infection is getting worse not better. He can't put any pressure on that leg. A board certified radiologist determined that it's a chronic infection and they want to do a joint tap with a culture to see what antibiotic is needed. We are going to try that first. Worst case scenario is amputation. Then we have Bourbun, a cute little Dutch rescued in Bourbonnais. He has an eye injury that is not getting better with medication and may have to see the ophthalmologist. This Giving Tuesday please consider donating to these sweet bunnies that deserve a chance at a pain free life. Any amount over our goal will continue to go towards the care of medical and injured abandoned rabbits as well as Revolution. We have to put Revolution on our strays because they pick up fleas, ticks, mites and botflies outside. It's about $100 to cover 6 rabbits and we've had over 300.
Thank you for your time. All of these sweet rabbits appreciate it.
