update:
It is with great sadness that we said our last goodbyes in this world to sweet Pickle on Friday August 15th. Her poor body was fighting hard and declining rapidly. While it happened so quickly and much sooner than we could have ever predicted, she let us know loud and clear that it was time to go and be with her brother Rhu who was waiting to welcome her from the other side.
We will always remember her for her incredibly huge heart, her hilarious quirks, her sweet eyes, and so much more. She brought a light and love to our lives that will never be replaced and we will miss her until we see each other again.
We are so deeply grateful for all of your donations. Every dollar raised is going directly to the vet bills which has mounted to a near $4k. With you donations, kindness, love, and prayers, this would have been so much more difficult. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion. We feel so very loved.
…
Our sweet baby Pickle has cancer. After a brief trip we came home to find her struggling with a dangerously high fever and rushed her to the animal hospital. After thorough testing and a few overnight stays to monitor her fever and treat her, we discovered that not only was she fighting a bacterial and staphylococcus infection, but that she had a mass amount of fluid built in her abdomen which we later discovered was due to cancer. The cost of testing, treatments, and medication has hit us much harder than we were expecting, and we are humbly asking for your help to pay these astronomically priced bills.
Truly anything at all is helpful and deeply appreciated.
We are feeling devastated from this unexpected and sudden turn in her health. Only a few short days before we rushed her to the hospital she was her usual self: asking for pets and belly rubs, purring loudly, and being chased around the apartment by her little brother. The light of her sweet soul still shines through her eyes, but she is fighting for her life. The cost of medication to sustain her well being is also leaving us at a loss, however we will do everything in our power to get her the treatment she needs.
Here is some of Pickle’s backstory:
She was found in 2020 living on the streets, skinny and with mangled teeth. A wonderful human scooped her up and got her the care she needed. Pickle tried to run away from her foster home after getting her teeth fixed. She spent the night drugged up on pain meds and hiding in greenwood cemetery until she was found again the next day. Unfortunately, she did not have a consistent foster for the next two years due to problems beyond everyone’s control. Finally in 2022, she found her forever home with us. When we first met Pickle she was so shy and nervous. But she quickly blossomed into a silly, loving, cuddly, and happy cat who was obsessed with her new brother Rhu. When Rhu got sick, she was by his side every day. She was his guardian angel, always sleeping with him and cuddling as close has he would let her. Pickle was there with us when we had to put him to sleep. She cried that whole night looking for Rhu. We knew she would want another companion, even though no one could replace Rhu. A few months later we adopted Olive. Her love for Olive took a bit longer to grow, at first he was the annoying kitten who wouldn’t leave her alone. But now after two years they love each other so much. Olive has been very concerned about Pickle and we want to make sure they have as much time as possible together. ❤️
