Help Pia Get the Care She Desperately Needs
Donation protected
Hello everyone. On January 15, 2025 we had to bring our beloved 4 year old dog Pia to the emergency animal hospital because we noticed her eyes and gums were quite yellow. We just thought it would be something small but it has now ended up being a never ending roller coaster for Pia. During her stay at the first animal hospital, she was given X-rays, an iv for fluids, a catheter and had her blood drawn a few times. Upon recommendation from the hospital, we transferred her to Tufts in North Grafton, MA where she had more blood drawn, ultrasounds and additional work to see what was going on and what was causing it. Other than her liver enzyme levels being quite high and her white blood cell count being low, there was nothing obvious to the veterinarians as to what could be wrong. We brought Pia home on January 18th and she has been acting mostly normal, just has lost a fair bit of weight and her urine is quite dark. Since then she has had additional blood work and her levels has improved, except for her bilirubin which has remained high and she just seems to be getting progressively more yellow even with being on quite a fair bit of medications that were supposed to help with that.
This is the truly the last thing Jason and I really want to do, but we have come to a crossroads as the vet bills have become astronomically high (around $10,000 already in bills) and we may have to be faced with the harsh reality of putting our beloved girl down. We would like to use these funds towards trying to help get her more care and if it comes to it, to help with the bill to have her put down peacefully. Thank you all for reading this and helping out with anything if you can. We love our girl so much ❤️
