Phyllis Schmig has had a very rough year just this past year. It all started in May of 2024. She was at her grandson's graduation and suffered a massive heart attack. She was in Abbott and got a stent put in and had to stay for a week and then wasn't able to go back to work for a while. Once back to work, about 2 months later, she was back in the hospital due to having to fix her medication. Phyllis was on the road to recovery and doing so well and back at work.
However, on February 10, 2025, it was like any other ordinary day. My mom, Phyllis Schmig, was on her way to the hospital for a check-up. My sister was taking her to her appointment. All of a sudden, my mom became unresponsive. My sister, Ellie, called 911, and they told her to keep coming, and they would meet them outside the emergency room doors. When she got there, we found out news that would change our lives forever. Phyllis suffered a hemorrhagic stroke with bleeding in her brain. They quickly got her stable and transferred her with lights to Abbott. Once there, she had a drain put in her brain to help with the swelling and bleeding. By the end of the 10th, she was stable but very critical. She was put on heavy sedation and a ventilator while her brain tries to heal. The doctors are saying we have to take one day at a time, and it will be a long road of recovery.
With Phyllis not responsive and in the Neuro CICU, she is unable to work and get money to pay her bills. We are asking for any donations to help ease this long road ahead of her and let the bills that are stacking up be the least of her worries.
