Help Photojournalist Ahmad and His Family Survive in Gaza

I am Ahmad Jihad Al-Uraini, a photojournalist from Gaza. I document the war through my lens and live its tragedy with my soul.

In this war, we have lost our home, our car, and every sense of safety. We keep moving from one displacement to another, carrying a few belongings with us, but we have lost the most precious thing a human can have: stability and dignity.

Today, I write to you because hunger and homelessness have forced me to share this link – hoping that your compassionate hearts will grant us a chance to survive.

I currently live with my family in a small rented house, together with my parents, my two brothers, the wife of one brother, and their children. We all live in the same place, with no stable source of income. I am the sole provider for all of them.

The rent alone requires an unimaginably high amount in these conditions, not to mention the food, water, and daily essentials whose prices have risen to unprecedented levels.

We have no real shelter, no bread, not even the minimum needed for a dignified life… in Gaza – the most expensive and harshest place for a human being to exist today.

Every bit of support from you is a lifeline for us. It helps us secure a simple shelter, food to ease the hunger of the family’s children, and gives us hope to continue in this exhausting and difficult life.

في هذه الحرب، فقدنا منزلنا، سيارتنا، وأبسط أشكال الأمان. أصبحنا ننتقل من نزوح إلى آخر، نحمل بعض الحاجيات، لكننا فقدنا أعزّ ما يملكه الإنسان: الاستقرار والكرامة.

اليوم، أكتب إليكم بعدما أجبرني الجوع والتشرّد على نشر هذا الرابط، على أمل أن تمنحنا قلوبكم الرحيمة فرصة للحياة.

أنا أعيش الآن مع عائلتي في بيت صغير بالإيجار، يضمّ والديَّ، شقيقيّ، زوجة أحد إخوتي، وأطفالهم – كلنا في نفس المكان، بلا مصدر دخل ثابت. أنا المعيل الوحيد لهم جميعًا.

الإيجار وحده يتطلب مبلغًا خياليًا في هذه الظروف، ناهيك عن الطعام والماء والاحتياجات اليومية التي ارتفعت أسعارها بشكل غير مسبوق.

نحن بلا مأوى حقيقي، بلا خبز، بلا الحد الأدنى من مقوّمات الحياة الكريمة... في غزة – أغلى وأقسى مكان يمكن أن يوجد فيه إنسان اليوم.
