Hello, my name is Phoenix Vazquez. I’m a disabled, 20 year old, nonbinary lesbian currently in my junior year of studying Comics at The School of Visual Arts (SVA) in Manhattan.
On December 23rd of 2025, my brother and I escaped my abusive mother. Up until then, I would rely on her for housing in the summer, but due to her escalating abuse and addiction, it has become clear that her house is no longer safe for the both of us.
And as of December 23rd of 2025, I have nowhere else to go. My father lives in a one-bedroom apartment, and is in the process of saving up for a larger place for him and my autistic brother. The relatives I do have are aging, and in no position to take me in.
As of the Spring 2026 semester, I am living in the SVA dorms. I have no other option but to stay here for the summer, too. My father is working overtime to take care of my brother, as my mother is no longer assisting in costs or contributing positively in any way.
All of the money from this GoFundMe will be going towards my housing costs for the summer, so please consider supporting me if you can. Share, comment, donate—anything matters. Thank you.
