Hello everyone! My name is Phoenix Logan and I am an upcoming filmmaker in my fourth year of film school at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Today, I am a writer and director of 7 short films, director of a feature length documentary and cinematographer of music videos and live events.
I’m reaching out for a little help on my final thesis movie, The Pleasure of Being Someone Else, a 15 minute psychological drama about identity, grief, love, and the illusions we create to feel wanted.
What’s the Film About?
After James accidentally kills his partner by dropping an air conditioner on her, he replaces his dead girlfriend by hiring Elizabeth, an actress who struggles with her identity and the illusions of their relationship, spiraling in a reality neither of them can control.
Why This Story Matters
The Pleasure of Being Someone Else presents a deeply psychological and visually compelling film that intertwines an eerie theatricality with a poignant human story, making for a unique cinematic experience. Supporting this film would mean championing thought-provoking, independent storytelling that delves into the complexities of transformation and obsession. By people like you funding this project, you are contributing to bringing a bold and artistically ambitious film to life, one that challenges conventions and leaves a lasting emotional impact on its audience.
Why We Need Your Support
As a student film, we’re pulling every string to make this happen, but we need your help to bring The Pleasure of Being Someone Else to life. We’re raising $6,500 to cover essential production and post-production costs, ensuring we can tell this story with the depth and impact it deserves.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to making this film a reality. Your support means helping an extremely talented cast and crew work together to create something special.
This project is the culmination of my time at SVA, and making this film is a defining moment in my journey as a storyteller.
Let's make art together!
