My name is Leah, and I'm a single working mom supporting my son, Phoenix Moses, as he pursues his passion for soccer. Phoenix is 13 years old and high functioning Autistic. Being a goalkeeper is his superpower—it's truly his gift. He’s been playing soccer since he was four and has never given up, overcoming many challenges and adversities along the way. Recently, Phoenix was scouted and, after a successful tryout, was offered a spot on the Prince William Soccer Inc Boys 2011 Premier team. He’s been scouted before, but I was always reluctant because of the travel and financial hardship. This time is different—Phoenix fought his hardest during tryouts and truly earned this opportunity. I’m so proud of his dedication and talent, and I just want my son to have this chance.
The team commitment is 10 months long, with three evening practices each week that are an hour away, plus games and six tournaments. The cost of the team by itself is significant and does not include gas or hotel stays needed for travel throughout the season. I work as a self-contained Autism teaching assistant, a job I truly love, but I’m feeling burnt out from doing everything on my own. Between work, travel, gas, and bills, it’s a struggle to keep up. On top of the team fees, I’ll need to cover hotel rooms for games and tournaments, as well as all the other costs that come with travel soccer. Your support will help cover the expenses for Phoenix to join the team, including registration, equipment, travel, and hotel stays for tournaments. Any help you can give will make a real difference in his life and help him take an important step toward his dreams. Thank you for considering supporting Phoenix and believing in his future.
