Hi family and friends, we are reaching out to share about a very special girl named Phoenix "Cupcake" Callaham. Cupcake is my daughter, and she has a rare disease called BPAN. This condition causes her to have seizures and many other daily challenges. One of the hardest parts is that BPAN makes iron collect in her brain, and right now, there is no way to remove it. Cupcake is 1 out of only 4 people in the entire state of South Carolina with BPAN, which makes her journey even more unique and challenging. Recently, Cupcake was also diagnosed with ASD3. She is non-verbal and relies on our family for everything, from communicating her needs to moving around safely.
Every day, we do our best to give Cupcake the love and care she deserves. We want to help her have the best quality of life possible. The GoFund me can help us tremendously in creating a more practical place for her that is more accessible for her needs. We need a wheelchair ramp, she needs a bigger bedroom to fit all of her equipment in and her own bathroom. Our house is older so it’s sectioned off and she can’t move around in her gait trainer the way it’s meant to be because we have carpet and because we have stairs and we don’t have an open floor plan so she is very limited. I just want her to live a long, productive and comfortable independent life as possible and this could truly help us to do so.
We know that times are tough for many, but any support you can give would mean the world to us. Your kindness can make a real difference in Cupcake’s journey. Thank you for being part of our lives and for helping us give Cupcake the care she truly deserves.
