On the evening of April 8, 2026, my parents and I noticed a burning wood smell coming from outside, only to discover a worst nightmare. Our neighbor's house caught on fire while they weren't home, and all 6 of their dogs were trapped inside.
By the time we unlocked the back door and called 911, the house was full of smoke and only their oldest dog, Benny, ran outside. First responders were able to quickly find 3 out of 4 puppies, but Leila, the fourth, was found after she had already passed. The puppies' mother Phoebe, who's just about a year old, was also found later and all surviving dogs were brought to the animal hospital.
Phoebe and her puppies are still in ICU, and the financial cost, let alone emotional burden, is why we are asking everyone to please consider supporting this family. Our dear neighbors, Angela and Ophir, are new to Hamilton Township, but they've been here long enough for us to know what wonderful people they are and fall in love with their dogs. Benny famously runs around the yard letting us all know that he sees us whenever we get home. They had just adopted Phoebe in November 2025, not knowing she was pregnant until she gave birth to four beautiful puppies this past February. Phoebe is 1/3 the size of Benny, but runs around and barks just like he does whenever she's outside.
On behalf of Angela and Ophir, we are asking for your help with the exorbitant hospital bills for all 5 of their strong, surviving dogs, as well as your prayers in their recovery from smoke inhalation and burns. Any support you can provide will be appreciated, and we'd be happy to give updates on their sweet babies on a weekly basis. Your donations will go directly to Angela and Ophir to help them pay for the medical costs. They are extremely thankful for your support thus far.
