Hi all! My name is Emily Vetne and I'm a lifelong cat person. When my parents brought me home as an infant there were two kittens waiting to be my siblings and I've had cats nearly my whole life since.
In April 2025 I got the news that my oldest girl, Frankie (9, calico) had dry FIP. While no longer an immediate death sentence, FIP is still deadly unless treated immediately and there's currently only one medication and one pharmacy that make it in the USA. She was on twice-daily pills for 84 days and began her 84-day observation period on Saturday, July 19. All told her vet visits and medication totaled over $4,000.
Unbelievably one of my rescue cats, a 2yo Siamese baby girl named Phoebe, was diagnosed with wet FIP today (August 4, 2025) and vet visits and first month of pills has equaled $1,025 already, with two more months of meds and checkups left.
My parents gifted me part of Frankie's treatment back in May because they've known and loved her for six years like I have but even considering that gift, I have no savings left and will add Phoebe's needs to my credit cards. Thank you all for any help you feel called to offer--I hate to ask but I am shell-shocked and feel a bit like drowning.
