Help Phnom Climb Community Gym Survive COVID19

Phnom Climb Community Gym is the first indoor Rock Climbing Gym in Cambodia established in 2015. Phnom Climb is more than just a business. It is and has been the home of Phnom Penh’s international and local rock climbing community. It is also the source of income for 10 dedicated local staff.
This short video gives you an impression of Phnom Climb, the community, and our Staff:
Phnom Climb's mission is to be a space that enables Cambodians and expats to develop community through climbing, regardless of status, background or color. We want every visitor to have an exceptional, memorable experience. We believe that climbing is a sport that fosters teamwork, trust, community, perseverance and physical health, helping individuals to grow in their confidence and teams to collaborate better together.
We are proud to host a vibrant climbing community and to teach climbing to thousands of disadvantaged children and young adults. Even the newly founded Cambodian National team is an offspring of our climbing community and trains at our facilities!
But now, everything has come to a halt.
Due to the COVID19 crisis, we had to make the extremely difficult decision to close the gym to keep our staff and our community safe.
This is a big blow to our business and the community.
In Cambodia, there is no governmental support for small businesses. Phnom Climb is privately owned which means that this financial burden rests primarily with the owners. We do everything possible to keep Phnom Climb alive. We have already reduced and delayed costs. Now we need your help to cover the rest!
We are committed to continue the employment of our amazing staff. They are the core of what and who Phnom Climb is. Their salaries also support their families and education.
Help us survive the impact of COVID19 by donating to Phnom Climb.
We can cover 50% of the essential operational costs for the next few months. We anticipate that the shut down of the gym will last at least 3 months. We need your help to help us cover the remaining 50%.
If you have visited Phnom Climb before or believe in our mission, please donate to us! Even a small token will make a big difference! We need you to get through those months!
Recommended support packages:
- USD 20: We love you.
- USD 50: You will get a print of our Phnom Climb mural by Cambodian Artist Monnyreak
- USD 75: You will get a special Phnom Climb t-shirt
- USD 120: You will get all of the above and we will name a route after you once we re-open (routes are temporary)
- USD 500: You will get all of the above and we will permanently name a climbing panel after you once we re-open.

It is also possible to give any amount that is suitable for you.
What is our Team current doing?
Though the gym is closed, we are not idle. The Team is using the time to clean and improve the gym so that we are ready to reopen as soon as the crisis is over. All our staff are participating in online learning activities to sharpen their skills!
Where will the funds go?
The funds raised will go solely towards salaries, utilities and the most necessary operational costs.
Your contribution does not go towards any profit or business gains. This is about the survival of Phnom Climb!
What if there is excess funds?
Should we be in the position that we raise more money than needed, we will spend the excess funds accordingly:
- Support staff in case of a country-wide lock down or COVID19 related medical treatment
- Helping out other SMEs in Phnom Penh that are in financial distress because of this situation
We strongly believe that together with our international Phnom Climb community, we can make this work.
Thank you for supporting Phnom Climb, the Team and the Cambodian Climbing Community. Thanks to your help, we might be able to continue to write big climbing stories in the near future!
