Our beautiful boy, Phineas (or “Phinny” as we call him), isn’t even 2 years old yet.
We adopted Phinny a year ago when he was just 7 months old to be a support companion for our 12 year old daughter who was going through some very difficult mental health issues, and since then he has become a much-loved member of our family.
A few days ago, our world was turned upside down when Phinny fell 14 storeys from our high-rise apartment balcony. During the fall, he hit and broke through electric shutters on the ground floor before reaching the ground.
We rushed him to emergency veterinary care, fearing the worst. Miraculously, Phinny survived, but he has suffered serious injuries. His hind leg is fractured and requires surgery with pins to repair it. He is also dealing with chest trauma and swelling around his lungs. The veterinary team needs to allow his lungs time to recover before surgery can safely proceed.
His surgery is currently scheduled for Monday.
The costs are mounting quickly. The surgery alone is estimated to cost around $3,000, with additional daily hospitalisation, specialist care, medications, imaging, and recovery expenses expected during what may be at least a 10-day stay in the veterinary hospital.
We are contributing everything we can towards his treatment, but the unexpected costs are more than we can manage on our own.
Phinny has shown incredible strength and determination, and the veterinary team is hopeful that with surgery and ongoing care he can make a good recovery. We want to give him every chance possible.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards Phinny’s veterinary care and recovery. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with others would mean just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read Phinny’s story and for helping us give our brave little survivor the chance to heal.
With gratitude,
The Mansbridge Family.
