As extremely difficult as it is for me to ask this, we humbly appeal to those who are called to contribute support by way of prayers, healing thoughts, financial offerings, encouragement, and love for Phineas Pō Winter and family. Our 12 year old son has been faced with a challenge not many of us can thankfully understand, as in late October, he was diagnosed with B-ALL Leukemia. This has been a complete shock for us and we are still just starting to really understand what a huge obstacle this is to overcome. But we WILL overcome it and you can help us in our endeavor. We are so completely grateful for the insurance company and all the medical bills and assistance that they cover, but as we are seeing this unfold, we are realizing that in order to provide Phineas Pō with the absolute best care and quality of life that is so precious to us and comforting to him, we are not able to afford the many other expenses that come with battling this harrowing blood cancer.
If you've ever met Phineas Pō, you know that he is an extremely intelligent, vibrant, funny, and inquisitive young man that has an enthusiastic appetite for life and all that it has to offer. He's a foodie with the palate of a respected and adventurous food critic, not blinking an eye at the idea of eating the craziest things you can imagine: from tongue to marrow to eyeballs and more!
He is a fact hunter, and always has an interesting and obscure tidbit of information to offer about almost any person, place, or thing (and you should probably try to bribe him to be your trivia night partner if that ever comes up)!
He is simultaneously my absolute favorite philosopher and comedian hands down. He is wise beyond his years and can easily keep up with the adults on most topics, controversial or not, with an unexpected level of insight. I'm barely scratching the surface of who my beautiful and brilliant son is and how important he is, not just to me and his dad, but to so many people who are quite affected by his presence and the light that he carries with him.
This is why I am calling out for your help. I need things to be ok. I need things to work out for him and for him to keep being this amazing human being and keep being my son. I know nothing in life is for certain, but I also know that we have to give him everything we've got and do whatever it takes to create the widest pathway to his recovery. I'd like to think that somehow, someway, the efforts that I've made in this life to do good by others, and to live my life compassionately have permitted me to hope for the same in return toward my son.
I understand that we are seeking to fundraise a large amount of money, and that you might be curious where the funds will be allocated. I intend to update this campaign with a spending overview and breakdown of the budget as a whole.
I also have written up the story of what we went through and how we came to this diagnosis and intend to add this as well in the following days.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read these words. If you can offer another moment of your time to pray for our son, or however you choose to send positive encouragement and support to him, we would be wholly, entirely and absolutely grateful beyond measure.
